Suriname to get extra US$300,000 from FIFA
PARAMARIBO/ZURICH– Suriname football is set to receive a US$ 300,000 injection from the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) and the Suriname Football Union SVB “will spend it properly, as its boards sees fit”, GFC Nieuws reports. Members will present proposals for projects to the SVB board.
“The funds are to be invested first and foremost in the development of football and to enable FIFA member associations to take part in FIFA competitions,” FIFA said in a statement Friday.
The statement said that every soccer nation is to receive $300,000 as a share of profits from the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. FIFA says the payment is in addition to the $250,000 every country gets annually toward its soccer development and running costs. FIFA’s annual financial report in March is expected to reveal total commercial revenues of around $3.4 billion for the four-year cycle of 2007-2010.
