PARAMARIBO–Readytex Art Gallery is “revealing stored treasures’ in a unique exhibition in “De Hal” at Grote Combéweg 45 from February 03 to February 05, 2012.
“We present a prime selection from the collection of artworks that has been steadily growing since our opening in 1993. Works of art which have not or hardly been visible to the larger public over the past few years will now receive a well-deserved spot in this exhibition,” the gallery has announced. The expo will feature barely seen work from Suriname’s top artistes, including Rinaldo Klas, Kurt Nahar, Paul Chang, George Struikelblok, Soeki Irodikromo, Ron Flu and Sunil Puljhun. It will be open to the public from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.
PARAMARIBO–The Kibii foundation of visual artist Marcel Pinas and the Readytex Art Gallery is on June 21st launching a series of art exhibitions within the framework of Kibii Wi Koni Marcel Pinas The Event. This large multifaceted event marks the first time ever in Suriname, that an art event of such significant proportions is organized based on the work of one artist only, Sranan Art has announced in a press release.
The release says that Pinas’ innovative artworks (from installations to objects, from videos to paintings), their strong social message, his ambitious mission for district of Marowijne and his worldwide achievements in the field of art, demand an event of much larger scale than a standard art exhibition. “This conviction is further endorsed by the title of the new book about the artist which will be presented at the opening of the first exhibition of the event in the KKF: Marcel Pinas. Artist, more than an artist,” the release states.
It presents the Kibii Wi Koni project as a compilation of Pinas’ culturally inspired artworks and art objects which he creates under the theme Kibri a Kulturu (preserve the culture). “Pinas creates a lasting record of valuable elements from the maroon culture and by doing so contributes, in his own unique way, to the preservation of the culture that is also his own heritage.”
PARAMARIBO–On May 31st Readytex Art Gallery will open her second large solo exhibition for this year in De Hal at the Grote Combé. In this exhibition visual artist Reinier Asmoredjo will present his latest art collection to the public. The title he chooses for the exhibition is Spirits of the Sun and quite appropriately so, for the sun is indeed the main theme in the new creations for his new solo show.
The signature style of Asmoredjo is clearly present in the new collection. As we have come to expect from Asmoredjo, a cheerful and bright color pallette, a positive symbolism of women, birds and flowers once again characterize the work. Then of course there is also the sun which always plays an important role in Asmoredjo’s paintings, but this time around the sun most definitely takes center stage. The sun, to Asmoredjo, is a source of strength and positive energy and in his work it often symbolizes, also because of its circular shape, the continuous cycle of life. Asmoredjo has a positive look on life and that clearly manifests itself in his art as well. “People tend to complain so much about the sun. If it’s not too hot, then it’s too bright. I want to stress the positive aspects of the sun. The warmth, the strength and the energy it gives us to work towards a better future, that’s what is most important to me!”
Team Readytex Art Gallery and Reinier Asmoredjo present the latter’s ‘Spirits of the Sun’ expo, which opens on Tuesday May 31, 2011 at De Hal, Grote Combe weg 45 in Paramaribo. Following his opening, the artist will on Thursday June 2nd present his work in an interview with Cassandra Gummels–Relyveld. The exhibition has a festive closing on Saturday June 4th.
Just a few more weeks to wait! When those weeks are over, Readytex Art Gallery will host a memorable art exhibition in De Hal at the Grote Combe weg 45. The artist then presenting his latest collection of artworks to the public, is Reinier Asmoredjo. The title of the exhibition: Spirits of the Sun.
Just as the title suggests, the emphasis in the new work of Asmoredjo is placed on the sun. Although the sun, similarly to flowers, fruit and birds, always plays an important role in Asmoredjo’s work, it is now primarily the positive strength and the energy radiating from the sun that take center stage. Asmoredjo prefers to look at things from a more positive point of few: “People tend to complain so much about the sun. If it’s not too hot, then it’s too bright. I want to stress the positive aspects of the sun. The warmth, the strength and the energy it gives us to work towards a better future, that’s what is most important to me! ” Asmoredjo does indeed gain his inspiration from the sun.
