Reinier Asmoredjo’s Spirits of the Sun opens on Tuesday

PARAMARIBO–On May 31st Readytex Art Gallery will open her second large solo exhibition for this year in De Hal at the Grote Combé. In this exhibition visual artist Reinier Asmoredjo will present his latest art collection to the public. The title he chooses for the exhibition is Spirits of the Sun and quite appropriately so, for the sun is indeed the main theme in the new creations for his new solo show.

The signature style of Asmoredjo is clearly present in the new collection. As we have come to expect from Asmoredjo, a cheerful and bright color pallette, a positive symbolism of women, birds and flowers once again characterize the work. Then of course there is also the sun which always plays an important role in Asmoredjo’s paintings, but this time around the sun most definitely takes center stage. The sun, to Asmoredjo, is a source of strength and positive energy and in his work it often symbolizes, also because of its circular shape, the continuous cycle of life. Asmoredjo has a positive look on life and that clearly manifests itself in his art as well. “People tend to complain so much about the sun. If it’s not too hot, then it’s too bright. I want to stress the positive aspects of the sun. The warmth, the strength and the energy it gives us to work towards a better future, that’s what is most important to me!”

The artist then presenting his latest collection of artworks to the public, is Reinier Asmoredjo. The title of the exhibition: Spirits of the Sun.

Just as the title suggests, the emphasis in the new work of Asmoredjo is placed on the sun. Although the sun, similarly to flowers, fruit and birds, always plays an important role in Asmoredjo’s work, it is now primarily the positive strength and the energy radiating from the sun that take center stage. Asmoredjo prefers to look at things from a more positive point of few: “People tend to complain so much about the sun. If it’s not too hot, then it’s too bright. I want to stress the positive aspects of the sun. The warmth, the strength and the energy it gives us to work towards a better future, that’s what is most important to me! ” Asmoredjo does indeed gain his inspiration from the sun.
