Brasilian “Smoke Squadron” to give Independence Day airshow

PARAMARIBO- The “Smoke Squadron” of the Brasilian airforce will give an airshow on Suriname’s Independence Day, November 25th, the Brazilian embassy has reported. The squadron, which consists of nine aircraft, arrived at the Johan Adolf Pengel International Airport on Tuesday.

The pilots, whose team is revered for their acrobatics, promised the Surinamese community a marvelous show. Suriname on November 25th celebrates the 35th anniversary of its Independence, gained in 1975 from former colonizer The Netherlands. The country has planned an elaborate celebration, albeit dimmed by the recent catastrophe in east Suriname, where seven miners died when their mine collapsed.
